Holly Springs Fundraiser to benefit parents of Jack Murray, terminally-ill 3 year-old
This little boy lives in my community, our community. Whether he knows Jesus or not and whether his parents are God fearing Christians or not, the platform that the LORD Almighty, Jesus and the Holy Spirit have given to me are from the same God who sends his rain upon the believer and unbeliever alike. So I can do no less in stewardship of what He has entrusted to me.
Please tune into the Chuck Campbell Show on WPJL AM-1240 on Thursday or Friday when I will talk to one of Jack’s parents or other spokesperson. I will be in Greensboro for another convention, but I urge my friends, neighbors, blog readers and listeners to please minister in love to these dear children of God…remembering the words of the brother of Jesus:
- James 2:14-26
- 14 What R81 use is it, my R82 brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that F43 faith save him? 15 If R83 a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go R84 in peace, be F44 warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
and the words of 1 John where we are admonished that:
- 1Jo 3:17 - Show Context
- But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
“Now go and do the right thing.” Chuck Campbell, father of four healthy children by God’s grace.

Holly Springs Fundraiser to benefit parents of terminally-ill 3 year-old
Holly Springs, NC - April 14, 2008
A fundraiser will be held Saturday April 19th from 12noon until 6pm in the parking lot of the Holly Springs WalMart to help pay the medical bills of Jack Murray, a terminally-ill
3 year-old boy.
Planned activities include a silent auction, raffle, live music and kid’s entertainment. Food will be available for purchase from Michelangelo’s Pizza of Holly Springs; Pelican Ice Cream of Apex; Dunkin Donuts of Fuquay-Varina; and Chik-Fil-A of Fuquay-Varina.
“We’re overwhelmed with the generosity of our neighbors, the community and all the people who are helping make this happen” says Julie Murray, Jack’s mother. “My husband and I are so grateful for living in a community that cares and is willing to help us”.
Jonathan Pritchett, Store Manager of the Holly Springs WalMart said “when I heard about what they are going through I knew immediately that I wanted to help. I’m a father too.” The store is sponsoring a bike rodeo that starts at 9:00 am to help increase foot traffic. WalMart is also donating $500. Other corporate donors are Kohl’s Department Stores, Apex, $500; Quintiles Transnational, RTP, $1,000; and Concept Masonry, Raleigh, $1,000.
The fundraiser was conceived by four of Julie and Brian Murray’s neighbors - Susan Hernandez, Nancy Smith, Nicole Heiser and Lisa Kelaher. “The response from people who want to help has been phenomenal” said Hernandez. “People we’ve never met before have called to ask if they can volunteer on Saturday or donate something for the silent auction” she said.
The Holly Springs Civitan Club, the South Raleigh Civitan Club (www.civitan.net/srcc) and the Banded Brothers (www.BandedBrothers.org) non-profit organizations are assisting with the effort.
To donate, go to www.JacksDay.org. To volunteer, call Susan Hernandez at 342-5854.
