Chuck Campbell’s personal endorsement and testimonial re Fred Smith for Governor of NC in 2008
I have known Senator Fred Smith for about 18 months. I first met him in person when he spoke at a Marriage Amendment Rally that was organized by my good friend Pastor Dr. Ron Baity of Return America. Pastor Baity brought 10,000 people to Raleigh to demand that the NC General Assembly vote on the Marriage Amendment which Senator Smith, along with Senator Neal Hunt, is a co-sponsor and author of. NC is the only state in the South without a Marriage Amendment to protect the traditional definition of marriage from a homosexual sympathizing activist liberal judge.
Due to Speaker Joe Hackney, D, the bill was single handedly killed this year. But that’s another story.
Fred Smith has been on both my radio and TV shows numerous times in the past 15 months. I have campaigned for him, as a volunteer, at several events and even going business to business for him handing out his books, brochures, bumper stickers and yard signs. Because I believe that Fred Smith is God’s anointed man for such a time as this to be Governor of NC.
Fred Smith is honest, ethical and takes his Christianity with him everywhere he goes. While on TV with me last Spring, he spoke on his own initiative of the importance of the holy Easter Sunday holiday to Christians. He is what Clyde Staples (CS) Lewis referred to as “men with chests”.
Besides being the author of the Marriage Amendment, he is 100% pro-life when it comes to protecting the unborn and their mothers. He is a sponsor of Jessica’s law to stop pedophiles from stalking, raping and killing children. He is a sponsor of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act which would criminalize the killing of an unborn child in the commission of a crime. Remember Lance Corporal Maria Lauterback, Michelle Young and Jennie Neilson were all eight months pregnant when they were murdered in NC and the killers of them and their unborn babies can NOT be charged for the death of the baby under current NC law. Senator Fred Smith knows that the unborn and little children deserve justice too.
Senator Fred Smith is also the author of the Taxpayers’ Protection Act which limits the growth of the state budget (which has doubled in the past 10 years) to the rate of population growth and inflation.
Fred Smith for Governor is also a successful businessman. His Fred Smith Company has built several local subdivisions including Hedingham in North Raleigh. He’s a local Johnston County boy who grew up on a farm and learned to drive a tractor as a boy. He lived for a while at the Raleigh Methodist Children’s (orphans) home while his father and mother worked there to serve orphans. Fred Smith played football at Wake Forest University, then graduated from Wake Forest Law School and entered into the US Army JAG Corps for four years. He has served his county at home as well having been a successful County Commissioner and State Senator for six years.
Fred Smith for Governor knows that there are three main problems that need fixing in Raleigh after 20 years of no Republican Governor and 140 years of one party corrupt Democrat control of the NC General Assembly. So, stopping corruption is a top priority for him.
Fred Smith for Governor also knows that the run away spending like a drunken sailor in a foreign port that the Democrats in Raleigh have conducted for the past 100 plus years are bankrupting the hardworking people of NC and taking too much from a family’s paycheck to support wasteful and corrupt spending on pork projects in Raleigh. Fred will clean up the corruption and wasteful spending. He is a true social and fiscal conservative.
Fred Smith for Governor also knows that every NC child from Murphy to Mateo and from Charlotte to Roanoke Rapids deserves a good quality education so that they can overcome the stigma of poverty and have a chance to succeed in a good job. When he was asked to help the CC Mangum Company family turn around an economically troubled company that employed hundreds of NC citizens, Fred Smith used his own personal finanacial resources and business acumen to save those jobs and make the company prosperous again. I also know that Fred Smith is kind and compassionate and has helped many ex-cons find jobs and people down on their luck financially find a house to call home.
There are many more reasons why I am convinced that Fred Smith for Governor of NC in 2008 is the right choice for all of us. But you will have to decide for yourself. I urge you to please take time to educate yourself on the candidates or NC Governor and vote in the primary on May 6th, 2008.
A final note on my personal perspective and experience. Having lived in Charlotte for a year in 2000 and lived nearby in Hickory from 2001 to 2006, I know a lot about the mayor of Charlotte, Fred’s chief political opponent and let me just say that he is like John McCain without the military experience.
If you are registered Republican or Unaffiliated (Independent, like my wife) you can vote for Fred Smith for Governor of NC in the May 6th GOP primary. After he gets past the primary, then he can win against the Democrat nominee, Perdue or Moore, because he is the kind of a conservative that conservative Democrats and conservative Independents will cross party lines to vote for like they did for Ronald Reagan and Jessee Helms.
I believe that God has told me that Fred will win on May 6th if the Bible believing Evangelicals, conservative Catholics and other conservatives turn out in large numbers on May 6th, 2008 and vote for the one true social and fiscal conservative with the proven CEO leadership, vision and experience to lead NC into a new era, Fred Smith for Governor on 2008.
